Best Dressed Sona 2023

Every year, the fashion statements of the Members of Parliament during the annual State of the Nation Address (SONA) are eagerly awaited by South Africans. This year was no exception, but the fashion parade at Cape Town Hall was slightly underwhelming. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on July 24, 2023, presented his second State of the Nation Address (SONA). The Batasang Pambansa Complex witnessed the Congress members and guests gather for the annual address. With creations by Filipino designers gracing the event, the complex halls were adorned with traditional outfits while some sported brighter color schemes, predominantly floral. Scroll down to catch the best-dressed attendees of the night.

1. Heart Evangelista – After sporting an Ivaarluski Aserson jumpsuit at the Philippine Senate’s opening ceremonies, Heart Evangelista chose a different version of Fikipiniana for the main event. Accompanied by Mini Hermes Kelly, she wore a Michael Levya gown adorned with geometric patterns, pearls, and crystals. Her stylist, Iza Sim, informed that the creation took three months to come to fruition.

2. Audrey Tan Zubiri – Audrey Zubiri, wife of Senate President Miguel Zubiri, chose another floral ensemble for the evening. Her friend Rajo Laurel helped her style an off-shoulder outfit with all-over floral motifs. She accessorized her look with shell-inspired clutches from the local brand Beatriz.

3. Sen Risa Hontiveros – Sen Risa wore a creation by Joel Acebuche again this year. The designer crafted a classic saya look with pina fabric layered over a traditional baro, handcrafted by the women weavers of Lumban. A tikog bag made in Samar added the finishing touch to her look.

4. Marga Nograles – The Preview’s Best Dressed 2022 awardee, Marga Nograles, did not hold back for this year’s event either. She donned a modern Filipiniana by Puey Quinones filled with red, purple, and green hues resembling tropical flowers. Erica Concepcion Reyes’s jewelry added sparkle to her look.

5. Milen Gonzalez – Milen Gonzalez, wife of Marino party-list representative Sandro Gonzalez, wore a cream-toned Vania Romoff terno, tastefully accessorized with Tessera jewelry and a clutch by Neil Felipp.

6. Jaja Chiongbian Rama – She showcased a lattice-like corset that contrasted the textures in its bodice. The look was completed with a shell-crafted minaudiere, handmade by Lebios Crafts, in the SONA halls.

7. Cong Lenaa Lonte – She wore a dress featuring a long French lace with white tassels that beautifully cascaded into a short train.

8. Tootsy Angara – A frequent feature in SONA’s best-dressed lists, Tootsy Angara didn’t disappoint this time either. Her outfit combined subdued grey with soft yellow florals, with a bunch of yellow tule adding a unique touch to the ensemble.

9. KalaadKaren – The Preview June 2023 cover girl, KaladKaren, dazzled in a sweet purple outfit. The outfit, created by Martin Bautista, featured a subtle leg slit for a fun touch.

10. Dr. Kathy Gorriceta – Her outfit was the epitome of elegance. She chose a golden sheen look for the evening, embellished with delicately arranged butterfly charms.
